Snowfall causes slick overpasses, some delays

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Snowfall across Arkansas wreaked havoc on the roads this morning. Some wrecks and traffic congestion slowed commuters all over central Arkansas.

Arkansas State police says all interstates are now open but traffic was at a standstill in some places on and off the interstates.

Accidents were are also reported on I-30 westbound at Cantrell, I-30 east and west in Saline County, I-630 west and eastbound and I-40 westbound at Levy.

A school bus accident in the area of Baseline and McDaniel had traffic backed up for awhile.

Bridges and overpasses were the main problem, so drivers had to take their time and drive slowly to get to their destination.

USDA and federal agencies also delayed opening until 10 a.m.

Monday forecast

Rain will continue across the region for a good part of the day today with a transition to sleet/snow mix in northwest Arkansas. Wouldn't be surprised to see some accumulation in higher elevations of the north central and northwestern areas of the state.  Otherwise a cold, rainy Monday for the rest of us.

Monday: 90% Rain through early afternoon, then a chance of rain through the evening hours. High 45. Wind N 10-15.
