A sweet history

July is the sweetest month of the year. Not only is that beloved cooling sweet treat the perfect antidote to these sweaty dog days of summer, but July also happens to be National Ice Cream Month.

How did it get started?

TCBY on Markham launches yovana yogurt

Free servings to guests between hours of 8:30 -- 10:30 am tomorrow

TCBY at 11418 West Markham (by Academy Sports) has been chosen by TCBY corporate as one of only a few national test sites for fresh (not frozen) yogurt.  The Yovana Yogurt is a healthy product and is served with fresh fruit and granola-type topping that makes it a perfect breakfast.  Thus, TCBY on Markham Street (Little Rock's only TCBY) is opening at 7am.  Now you can have healthy breakfast at TCBY!

Tomorrow (Wednesday), the public is invited to come get a complimentary serving (as long as the fresh yogurt lasts!) from 8:30 to 10:30am.

We encourage media coverage of this product launch.  Don Weir is franchise owner and will be at the store and available for interviews all day long.  This is the 30th anniversary of TCBY, a company that is a source of pride for Arkansans since it was started by Little Rock's Frank D. Hickingbotham.

Salvation Army celebrates National Donut Day

Salvation Army celebrates National Donut Day

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Salvation Army Central Arkansas Area Command is celebrating the 73rd annual National Doughnut Day Friday, June 3 by partnering with Krispy Kreme to give away free doughnuts and raise awareness of The Salvation Army’s local food programs. The Army hopes to commemorate the traditions of National Doughnut Day and raise awareness of the continued need for Americans to support their neighbors in need.

“Last year, The Salvation Army Central Arkansas Area Command spent $91,874.50 feeding Little Rock's homeless and provided 7,153 food baskets to low-income families,” said Major James Taylor, area commander for Central Arkansas. “This increased demand has put a strain on our food pantries and shelter programs. We need food donations and volunteers to help stock and organize our food pantries each week.
