NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The William F. Laman Public Library System will host a press conference on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 to announce author Kevin Brockmeier as the recipient of the 2011 Laman Library Writers Fellowship, a grant program to provide up to $10,000 to a different Arkansas author each year. Laman Library established the Laman Library Writers Fellowship in March 2010 to provide grants to Arkansas authors to assist them in the writing and publishing process.

Local comedian brings big laughs

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Hypnotist and comedian J. Medicine Hat will perform on Feb. 19 at Knights Play Comedy Club, located at Golf of Castle Valley, 8500 Castle Valley Road, Mabelvale. The show also features comedian Angry Patrick.

J. Medicine Hat is originally from South Dakota, but for the last ten years has lived in Benton. J. has been performing for 26 years at comedy clubs, colleges, corporate events and in concert with entertainers such as: Dennis Miller, Jerry Seinfeld, Rosanne Barr, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, The late great Sam Kinnison, The late great Stevie Ray Vaughn, Larry the Cable Guy, Ron White, Jeff Foxworthy, Tom Arnold, The Stray Cats and many others. He's also made appearances on HBO, MTV, VH1 and Showtime.

Hall basketball senior to play for Cornhuskers

A senior basketball starter for Hall High School has recently signed a letter of intent for the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers.

According the Little Rock School District’s website, David Rivers has helped lead the Hall Warriors to 3 state finals, 2 of which the team won the state championship.
